Dr. J Krishnaveni

Dr. J Krishnaveni has been teaching in the Department of Medical Gastroenterology at PSG Hospitals in Coimbatore since May 2002. With an MD and DNB in Paediatrics and a DM in Gastroenterology as her postgraduate qualifications, Dr. Krishnaveni started out as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor in June 2005. Since February 2008 she has also assumed the post of Head of Unit II in the same department at PSG Hospitals. Dr. Krishnaveni's special interests are Interventional Gastroenterology and Paediatric Gastroenterology.

PSG Hospitals is a teaching hospital of PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research. It is a 750-bed hospital with all superspecialty departments. It has a busy Gastroenterology department with 2 Consultants, 4 Residents and 2 House Officers. There are on an average 450 upper GI endoscopies, 70 colonoscopies and 15 ERCPs done in a month. Dr. Krishnaveni takes care of inpatients, outpatients and handles diagnostic and interventional procedures. She is also involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical students. There is an active radiology department that does interventional procedures such as PTBD and hepatic vein and IVC stenting along with the Interventional Cardiologist. There is also a separate GI pathologist. There are also research projects and drug trials being carried out on a regular basis.
